Why Delta Kappa Epsilon?

5 Generations of DKE Family. From left to right: Brothers Akbar Alikhan, Connor Dunn, Sam Barringer, Eric Brunt, and Sasha Kosmajac.

BROTHERHOOD

Delta Kappa Epsilon prides itself on having the strongest ties of Brotherhood at UBC. Our brotherhood binds us, and is the reason for our success as a chapter. From always having brothers to hang out with, to getting help on assignments, to the tight-knit bond between Big and Little Brothers, to our annual DKE Formal at Manning Park Resort, DKE truly embodies the phrase, "Come for the parties, stay for the boys."

PHILANthropy

Delta Kappa Epsilon prides itself on its philanthropic achievements. All chapters of Delta Kappa Epsilon in Canada work to benefit the Canadian Cancer Society. For three years in a row, the Phi Alpha chapter has won DKE's Lion Trophy Award in the Philanthropy and Service category, for having the most robust and successful philanthropy program of all DKE chapters. Our Stick-It to Cancer campaign has raised over $110,000 over the past 4 years, and shows no sign of slowing. It's no wonder our campaign holds Canadian Cancer Society's 2nd and 3rd place all-time highest grossing independent fundraising campaigns.

Networking

There is no denying that a fraternity is a great way to get to  meet a large quantity of outstanding people. What sets DKE apart is the quality of those relationships. Whether it be an introduction in passing, or getting to know someone over the course of years, the Delta Kappa Epsilon name carries with it the confidence and trust of over 170 years of upstanding gentility, distinction, and refinement.

SPORTS

The Deke Lions are Delta Kappa Epsilon's network of intramural, philanthropic, and campus event sporting teams. Consistently, the Deke Lions (which sometimes go by the name the DKE Goats) place in the top-ranked intramural teams at UBC, including 5 hockey championship titles in the past three years.

legacy

When you are initiated as a member of Delta Kappa Epsilon, you join a brotherhood hundreds of thousands of members strong. The benefits of DKE extend far beyond your years as a college student. Many DKE members, upon graduation, use our extensive network for job placements or networking opportunities. Every year, hundreds of Phi Alpha alumni return to meet the incoming class, reconnect and rekindle old friendships, and promote success within the chapter, and in the real world.
